Sometimes they are small problems mentioned here which can be corrected via resubmitting or a subsequent update. Loved your entire post and gave you a greenie for it!! However, I totally hate when people put notes about mistakes in the Yes vote. If I make a mistake then bloody well vote NO!!! Even the smallest mistake should be blocked from entering the db. Also, I'm sure I'm not alone in that I very rarely check my YES votes (after all people have voted Yes, so I don't need to worry). But I ALWAYS check NO votes and correct/contact accordingly. Rant over! I totally agree with both the Dr. and you. And greenies to you both. If I make a mistake PLEASE vote "no" so that I can re-check my contribution. I usually give a green arrow for them too! |

Definitely agree with that. Although I do check the votes fairly often anyway for the reason of "Yes Nos!", there are occasions when I might miss them if they aren't in the No section. Quoting Kathy: Quote: I usually give a green arrow for them too! Indeed this seems to be a fairly common practice. If I was the No voter, I'll sometimes give the Contributor a green in the thread for that item if they need to recontribute it. | | | Last edited: by Ardos |

Rant over! I agree 100%! I do sometimes look at the votes... but not always unless there is a no vote. That no vote is the only thing that catches my attention! Also... IF you don't see me respond to a NO vote one way or another... PM ME!... When I have a lot of contributions up for vote I can easily miss a no vote among a huge list like that. I am not stupid enough... or so full of myself that I think I don't make mistakes.... so a (rightful) no vote will get you a Thanks (and usually a greenie if I have any left)... never a problem. | | | Pete |

Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. 1. Don't get offended if someone votes NO. 2. If someone voted NO, take their comment seriously. If that means editing and resubmitting, so be it. 3. If you don't agree with their NO, don't red flag them (unless they're frackin' rude). Talk to them about it via PM. 4. Read any comments in the YES votes. Sometimes they are small problems mentioned here which can be corrected via resubmitting or a subsequent update. 5. Don't get offended if someone votes NO. 6. Check the vote response on your contributions frequently for a few days after submitting. If there's any serious issues, you'll know about them fast and can correct them. 7. If you scan covers, dust your scanner first. If you have a photo editor, clean up your scans to remove dust, etc.
And finally:
8. Don't get offended if someone votes NO. Loves these 2. It is not personal (99.99999% of the time) And it is not about the number of contributions, it is about getting it right. Charlie |

You don't have to contribute everything. Even small updates improve the DB.

| Posted: | | | | Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: Add the disc(s) in question into your DVD drive. Go to Add DVD, switch to Add by Disc. If it finds an existing profile you can take that If it doesn't find one or tries to add the entire season again, just uncheck "Download from Invelos". Make sure it's in the right region/locality. Now you edit the profile and whatnot. Now you edit the designated parent profile and switch to the tab "Box Set Contents" There you add the disc by searching for its name.
Now it's done locally. If you want to contribute your results, contribute both child according to the rules and parent profile and check the "Box Set" checkbox in the contribution screen for the parent profile. Okay, regarding this. I have The Vengeance Trilogy box set which contains OldBoy, Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. I've already added Lady and Sympathy by disc ID to my local with no problems as the DVDs weren't in the database already (I'm adding by DVD as the cases within the boxset don't have UPCs). OldBoy, however, is already in the database with a disc ID. Now, am I allowed to download that info, modify it as necessary (double checking audio/video/etc), apply a new scan and upload it as a new profile? I know you cannot do this with shared UPCs (meaning if the cover changes you can't change what was already submitted), but can you submit a new cover with shared disc IDs? | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

Nope, the same restrictions apply. However since it's basically still the same movie/disc. You can add the DiscId as box set content to the parent profile and contribute it with all 3 children attached. Then you modify the OldBoy profile to your liking and lock all fields that differ from the original release. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
