You aren't even close.

Ooops, spaces (or blanks) were my guess too.
Skip, since you seem to be the only one to know what you changed, why don't you just tell us?

This guessing and assuming while there is someone out there to know the answer is making me sick.

I supplied the answer. And got attacked and insulted for my trouble.

Not quite. You supplied the answer for the removal of the crosslinks. Even though I don't share your opinion here, that was understood.
The question was: Did you change anything in the first three marked entries, and if "Yes", what was it?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I don't know about cast and roles, but in for example the overview, spaces are removed by the program. The contributor does not need to notice.
Another reason why cast entries are sometimes marked as changed, is when they are out of sync (an entry being inserted or removed just before the markings).

Yeah, but he doesn't have to change anything.  He just needs to have extraneous spaces in his local profile.  No guarantee that what was in his local was a dead solid match to the online to begin with.

I don't know if spaces are the issue or not, but not changing something doesn't automatically void the possibility of them being the culprit.

Indeed. I would suggest updating the local profile to the current online version first. I tried that myself, and I can confirm that the contribution screen doesn't report any changes then. However, when I insert an extra space, I don't actually see that extra space the contribution screen, but then the system does report a difference. Anyway: refreshing the profile first should fix it.
