I only see "Digital Copy Special Edition" since I'm used to seeing it and hate the fad. The Blu logo is just in the way as it was left there for the standard labeling.

The fact that we still digital copies now scares me. The idiots are winning, common sense is dying, and it makes me sad. Thought this fad would've died a quiet death last year, but it seems to be rolling right along. Proud to have never touched a digital copy disc, not proud to own some. I was forced to have them to get the real extra features!

Except that I have started to see a few of the early digital copy 'editions' showing up in the stores without the digital copy and with the same UPC. OK I lied, I have seen one so far. But I would not be surprised if more start appearing.

I kind of like being able to keep a copy on my ipod, or even a SD version on my laptop. I do think they should ditch the disc however, and go with a pure download service instead. Basically the disc is a use once and throw away, and as such, kind of wasteful IMESHO. Just stick a sheet with the download code in the case for the first several thousand copies (or whatever a good number would be) and don't even bother mentioning it on the cover...just a removable sticker. The reason I think they should be dropped is because 99% (made up figure but meh! ) will never be used. Those who want to watch it on their iPod or other portable device will just transfer it exactly the same way they always have & without the hassle of DRM.

That said, doing it the way you suggest would cut costs.

Do those have different UPCs?

The one title I have seen used the same UPC. It surprised me because I own the copy with the DC so I jotted down the UPC and went back to check the next day.

Oh joy! More "fun" of keeping first release details in the database. 

Not very considerate of Warner to do that to us DVD Profilers... Pfft.


In regards to the digital copies, I tried one before on my iPod but took it off only a few minutes later. I guess it's good for some but myself I normally will store the disc (and code) somewhere else so I can have a spare DVD (or better yet BD) case.
