Very sorry to hear your experiences - I can understand your frustration.

Any chance your work is still preserved in your own online collection? If so, you could download it again from there.

For the future: if you want to prevent updates from overwriting your own local work, use the Preview. First get the list of available updates (by clicking on the green arrow pointing downwards button, depending on your program layout), then click on Preview Updates. Next you can look at the updates one by one and tick or untick fields as you want them updated or not.

What you can also do (and I would recommend it after completing a mammoth task like yours!) is to lock your local data for that field. That will prevent any update from overwriting your data.

Unfortunately too late now, but hopefully of some use for the future.

no, not in local online either. yeah, i usually lock some personal stuff, like title, but didn't even think to do it with this bc it was accepted in the database and showed online so i figured it was all good. then update and not even Tony Soprano himself is a credit. the horror, oh the horror!

Hate to break the bad news to you, but I think what are doing is adding the cast and crew to the whole set, when it should be just the seasons.

So I just picked this up this morning ($199.99 at Target!!!) and wanted to comment/ask questions/add some info before I start editing and contributing.

The way this series is packaged is causing some of the confussion/problem with the submission.  While this is a complete series set and some would suggest to follow box set rules, note all 7 seasons are packaged into ONE large book-type thing, there are no separate boxes or packaging within the larger box.  From what I've seen in pictures, this would be similar to "The Sex and The City" complete set (which doesn't have much in it's profile).  From everything I know and understand, I would add the disc IDs and all the episode cast & crew info to the main profile.  Looking at the contribution rules, they state that disc-level profiles may be created, but "In either case, the cast and crew are to be entered into the parent profile using appropriate episode dividers."  I guess the debate comes down to whether there should be individual season profiles under the main profile or not.  Disc IDs are all new, so we can't simply add the discs from previous season releases to this.

Does anyone know of a similar complete series set that has been complete or extensively worked on that we could use as a guide?  I've looked at several and none were really helpful.  Any tips for doing a front/rear cover shot would be helpful as well.  I'm thinking the "Blade Runner" case set would be similar so I'll look at that for cover shot ideas.

Oh, and one comment to the original contributor (scottiew), for a set like this, start small.  Make a few changes and contribute them.  Once they are approved, make some more and contribute.  Adding Cast & Crew info for 86 episodes and other info and submitting it all at once is just asking for trouble.  It also doesn't hurt to have made other submissions before on individual movies/tv show seasons, if only to get a feel for the rules and what is and isn't accepted.  I've made the IMDB mistake before, and had other submissions declined for various reasons, but I've learned from them.

Thank you.  From the looks of the back cover for Stargate, I'd say this is similar to that.  One big book (literally; 10 pounds & 26 double-sided heavy cardboard pages) that hold all the seasons together.  No separate boxes inside the main set.  I notice Stargate doesn't have the Disc IDs included, but since this is one container for all the discs, I would assume it's appropriate to add them to the main profile, and do individual disc profiles if desired.  Stargate does have the cast info for episodes in the main profile, and because of the similar packaging I would say it's appropriate to add that info to the main profile for The Sopranos.

When I have the time I'll start working on it, unless someone beats me to it.  Probably easiest to do one season at a time then submit.  Once that season is approved and released, do the next season and so on.  That way there's less for other users to vote on/verify at a time.
