Ougee:

BD and HD are both DVDs, cousins at least. they are not a totally different and dead format, which ALL prior formats are, they are DEAD in at least one case dead for almost 20 years. It simply isn't going to happen. DVD contrary to the belief of some is not going to die anytime soon. DVD remains the fastest growing Media in the history of electronics, NOTHING has even come close to approaching the growth which DVD experienced.

AS to using other software, feel free to use whatever floats your boat. You mentioned VHS (or Beta) neither of which has ANY kind of permamnency, being a contact medium every playback wears it out a little, time is a big issue, the tape particles will eventually lose their alignment thus destroying whatever was on the tape, the tape will also age and eventually cruble to oxide dust.  Laserdic, as much as I loved it, was always a flawed format in its own right with lase rot and so forth.

Again I tell you, using the tags you have total abilityt to keep track of whatever media you wish. but you can ONLY do it locally, which is as it should be. You should be thriulled that you CAN track whatever you wish.

Well HD DVD is also dead. And DVR-R is much more DVD's relative than Blu-Ray. The same can be said about widely used DIVX.

I didn't actually. I said that it would be nice to finally do what many customers have been requesting for so long: to add some more media formats, or add a possibility for users to create more media formats themselves.

I know that I cans use tags but this is not the same. I'd like to have a possibility to choose media formats other than DVD and Blu-Ray. And as many other paid customers who have been requesting this feature for many years, I would like to finally see it in a future release of DVD Profiler.

Why should I?

I didn't really understand this phrase because I don't know what CPR is and have no idea about 50KV keyboard zappers. You see not everybody in this world lives in US, and English is not a native language for these unhappy people.

But good luck in getting CPR whatever it means, and perfecting your "50KV keyboard zappers".

Were you referring to the DIVX rental discs from circuit city that tanked several years ago or the DivX video compression codec? By widely used, I assume you mean the codec (which is not a distribution format). DVD-R is just a recordable DVD, so it is a subset of DVD, just as the CD format has multiple subsets.

I believe for present purposes, we can define DVD Profiler as just "DVD and later format 12cm shiny movie disc profiler"....or DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Disc.

Why stop there? What about these.

Personally I wouldn't mind if people could add more media locally (like 3.5 introduces for generes) as long as it does not take too much development time. Until then, I go with tags for my downloaded stuff (legal around here, so don't get worked up over it).
