Out of curiosity, I tried to resubmit the same profile again. When it brings me to the contribution/notes page, I get the following history :

Quote:

New Contribution

Evaluate this contribution

Profile Contribution Declined Jun 11 2007  7:43PM

Image Contribution Declined Jun 11 2007  7:43PM

Profile Contribution Approved Jun 11 2007  7:43PM

This now *definitely* look like a glitch to me. Profile declined and approved at the same time, and notice the weird ID thing in the image decline (while it was approved and released after all).

I'd also like a reason for decline.
I had 7 contributions declined two days ago (7 DVD of a TV anime).
I don't know why, so I'll resubmit. But, if I'm declined again, what will I do ? Submit again until I get approved ?
I'm checking my DVDs one by one to have accurate datas, and I have submited 40 profiles in 3 weeks, but If I have too much profiles declined without reason, I think I'll be over and not submit anything more, just keeping my work for me.

You don't bother to metin whether or not you looked at the votes. Many users post and forget and then cry when they get declined and don't know why. The voters are REQUIRED to tell you why they are voting No.

If you see a decline then an approve (or the reverse) it's because the screener made a mistake then went back and changed it.

Had i seen that I would have voted NO, reason where did your data come from, yo tell us what you did but you provide no source for your data.

So now you have your reason, even if you had no votes.

What do you mean by "the source of my data" ?
I never seen a contribution note with the source of the data.
And to answer you, the source is mostly the DVD. What is bothering you in these notes ?

You obviously haven't seen any of my notes

Here's a simple example

Studios corrected per film credits

Cast and Crew data edited and Ordered per Actual film credits and per Rules-As Credited

Remeber, sir, you are talking to people who have no clue who you are and vice versa. Tell them what, why and how you are doing it. Don't expect them to simply assume that used the DVD for data, we do have users who try to do that and are clearly using IMDb. Of course it's possible for you to lie in your notes, but that will eventually catch up with you. So communicate.

Corrected DVD release-Based on what?
Corrected Studios-Based on What?
Corrected Feature-From where, the Box? Boxes are often wrong
Converted audio from stereo to mono-How did you determine this, again from the Box. There are many tools that will help in this area

Probably, as I less than Z1 releases..
Even if I want to do the things correctly, I don't read all posts. It takes me alrealdy a lot of time to profile correctly all my collection. Contribution rules is "the rule", so if the lack of source is a reason to decline, then, it should be in the rules, not lost in one post somewhere on the forum.
And as I said earlier, I have nearly never seen the source in notes, and I still vote on it.
Notes are important, and I try to make it detailled, but if writing the notes needs me to spend too much time to ensure everything is correct, I'll stop.

That's right. The original title was "Capitaine Flam : Vol. 1 : Episodes 1 à 8", and I retitled it "Capitaine Flam : Vol. 1" as it seems to me the episodes number does not need to be on title (it's not on the DVD title)

You're right for these, I should have precised.
Quote:
Corrected Studios-Based on What?

Based on the DVD cover. The actual only contained the DVD editor, with a big spelling mistake.
I only added the production studio, and corrected the mistake.

Cover and DVD. I removed a featurette which is not written on the cover and not present on the disc.

As many other DVD, this one is "DD 2.0 mono". It has been said that in this case, it should "DD 1.0"

In fact, I just removed the japanese cast, as there is no japanese audio track.

If I can know why a contribution is declined, it's ok. If a screener says me as you have done that my contribution has to be corrected, I will. The problem is I don't know why it is declined.

This profile was very old (I would say 2/3 years), and I said me several times that I should change it. I finally did it, and I was declined. So, it's frustrating to see that evident innacurate datas stay on the database, while I am declined whithout knowing why.
If I have to make such a detailed description each time, spending time to write in a language that is not mine (so slower than usual), not even to be sure that the profile will be accepted, I'll finish by not contribute anymore, as Dan W did.

DD2.0 means nothing, literally. Theres is DD2.0 Mono, DD2.0 Stereo and DD2.0 Surround. They are a royal PITA and it requires special analysis and tools to be able isolate which is indeed the correct information. DD Mono can only be checked via graphical analysis of the sound information on the disc if the two channels are identical then it is obviously Mono. This also applies to Stereo ANY difference in i a L-R graphical analysis is Stereo. DVD Audio Extractor and PowerDVD4 are the only tools that will tell whether a soundtrack DD Surround, they will BOTH read the encoded Surround flag on the disc and report that there are 3 Channels.

There was once a method mentioned in the InterVocative forum... Something about loading the track into a wave editor and then playing with the Stereo sliders to see if it's Mono or not. The wave editor usually displays the track graphically as well, but the method didn't depend on that.

If you want to see that again, I can look it up again later (I have it on my home PC, but am in the office right now).

IMO 2 channel mono and 2 channel stereo can be easily distinguished by listening to them with head phones. If you can't, you may want to subtract one channel from the other. If the result is silence (except some noise) it is mono. If you can hear something significant, it's stereo.

Subtracting channels should be possible with every audio editor. In Audacity it can be done like this:
Quote:
To attempt this in Audacity, import a stereo recording, then click on the track pop-up menu (the little down-arrow next to the name of the track) and select "Split Stereo Track". Now select the lower track (the right channel) and use the "Invert" effect (from the Effect menu). Finally, use the track pop-up menus to make both channels Mono channels, and then mix them together using Quick Mix.

I use Audacity as well.  I find it a lot more user friendly than Blaze Media Pro for instance, which I also own.

Dantes Peak Image contribution

Cover declined last time as being to dark but comparing my scan to the cover the scan is actually lighter than the cover. The cover is quite dark.

Evaluate this contribution

I have this contribution that has gone into limbo disappeared from my contribution list and has never been accepted or declined

I would guess that voters didn't like it. But that is just a guess.
