Well, you don't need to worry because I am not going to contribute anymore profiles to your wanna-be perfect database.

I'm sure a lot of people are thankful for your wise decision

If I could get back my $30 I would do so.

I'm sure you would, but thankfully, you can't. Obviously, reading the rules isn't the only thing you didn't manage to do right, the EULA must have skipped by your attention as well....

I'm lazy huh, it took me hours to do the cast credits for Step By Step as well as 2 discs worth of Flying Nun.

Welcome to the world of working to achieve something and make it right. You probably learned a lesson you may well put to use in other fields of human life as well (and it only cost you $ 30,00).

Quote:
I have since withdrawn those contributions. I'll keep my complete cast credits for myself.

We're all devastated by this horrendous announcment, I'm sure. I think we better all pack up and leave, since without your input, this db is surely doomed

Quote:

You act like the database is perfect and that everything is perfect, well guess what it isn't and never will be. IMDB is not perfect, but neither is dvdprofiler.

Neither are you, as has been pointed out to you. the difference between IMDB and DVDP and you is: the dbs can be corrected and rectified, I seriously doubt that's going to happen to you as well (regarding perfection, that is).

I have more important things to worry about then what you think of me or how I do it.

And you'll have plenty more time to attend those more important things (there are a lot things in life more important than this program, btw) and may think happy thoughts all the way.

Enjoy and good riddance!

And NO, I don't like the attitude you openly displayed one bit, because it indicates very strongly that a reasonable discussion about more important aspects of DVDP than a typo with you might prove impossible.

I agree here Rick... but I refuse to vote yes on all his contributions just because (as it seems) he don't think he should be accountable for his work. If I see a mistake or see a broken rule I will vote no on the contribution with a reason left of course. And that goes for everyone's contributions.. I am in no way singling him out and in no way picking on him... I am only voting as I see I should vote. I am quick... and thrilled whenever I can vote yes... and if I see something wrong/against the rules I am quick to vote no... no more and no less.

I know Pete, and you were 100% right IMO on how you handled it. CubbyUps for some reason overreacted (IMO) Most would have simply made the correction and re-submitted.

Just pointing out that another willing person has decided not to contribute, for whatever reason, right or wrong.

I think you're missing the point Rick.  He's not really "another willing person".  Sure he's willing to do the initial work.  But when simple mistakes were found and reported (along with the right data to enter), he was unwilling to do anything about it.  Then he announced he's taking his toys and going home.

I say good riddance to that kind of attitude.

I don't consider myself anal about the database and accept that errors will get through.  But if you spend an hour to do the work and aren't willing to take a minute to fix obvious errors, then that's just sad.

You have a point Mark...
I guess I would just have hoped he would have realized it was nothing personal and that I want what most people here want... the best possible database we can put together. Like you said.. it would have only took a moment to fix and resubmit. But unfortunately not everyone thinks that way.

I would have liked to seen it turn out differently though.

Point taken? Maybe if you had thought it out to begin with Rick, you would have realized that yourself. But you saw a chance to take a shot, as usual.

I don't want to lose anybody willing to Contribute, but we don't need anybody unwilling to actually do the work. What does that mean? Hmmmmm

I think I'll let you figure it out.

Nice shot from the "I never take the 1st shot" martyr. I always give thought to my posts and do my best to post only what I believe to be true.

FWIW, I never said I agreed with Mark. I agreed he had a valid point is all. I was willing to drop it at that

I still feel any contributor who choses not to contribute is a loss to Invelos.

Not only is it a loss to Invelos, but it is yet another voice out there, in other forums, saying "I tried to contribute there but they are way too strict". Anyone who has looked at other forums or looked for other similar software knows that there is a percent of people out there who will not join here because we are too strict. There are also those who use the program but do not and will not contribute for the same reasons.

At some point that will effect the bottom line for Invelos. As Ken stated, there is a fine balance between accuracy and ease of use. Today the scale just clicked another notch toward accuracy being more important than ease of use.

You always claim to see the "bigger picture". Guess not this time.
