I don't know about James, but I have to ignore user behavior. If I didn't, I would never be able to focus on the issue at hand. I will admit that I am not always able to do it, as Hal and surfeur and even you are able to attest, but I am trying. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The user has also made good on his attempt to unilaterall6y change the Rules and the Studios thread. So don't expect me to BACK OFF, it won't happen. He was and is waaaaay out of line. So have fun with your red arrows, matey. Wait, what? Am I missing something? I haven't seen any request to change the rule nor have I seen a change in the studio thread. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Then address your insulting remarks to the OP, Unicus. NOT to me. I repeat it was not I announced publicly his intent to completely ignore the Rules, the Studios thread and the results of a poll he started. Until such timne as you address that....I am not interested. I don't care what the OP THINKS, it is not for him to decide what is and is not appropriate, on top of that I have already seen several dozens of Contributions using the currently CORRECT form of 20th. Had he NOT made the public announcement of his intent, I would not be angry and we could discuss this issue in a semi-rational manner. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Skip T!M's not breaking any rules. Correct studio names are allowed per the rules. | | | ...James

In fact, as I have already stated, I think it follows the rules.It does go against the studio thread but, as I already stated, I don't believe the names listed in that thread are set in stone.If he decides to go against the poll results, that is his choice. Polls are not binding. Polls that fly in the face of the rules are even less so.As always, that is just my opinion. Your mileage will vary. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Skip T!M's not breaking any rules. Correct studio names are allowed per the rules. Your opinion, but I don't share it, James and it is an opinion which I hold very strongly. And in my book you are condoning his behavior. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

The only thing that has changed is that the link to the Studios thread is not there but the Rules still state;
"There is further information about correct names for studios"
No let's see where would i go, Oh wait there is a Studios thread, let's check there and what do we find. My, my my
the second part "and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum."
is a separate issue. The Studios thread provides the answer. As of now.

He has no "behavior" other than trying to get the data right. You're trying to make this personal and label everyone else. Your argument failed you long ago when Unicus presented the BVHE example. I don't see any way that you're going to get around the BHVE issue in order to preserve your preference for '20th'. Quoting skipnet50: Quote: Unicus:

Skip You left out the part of the rule that says "if you are unsure". That makes the whole thread an optional exercise. T!M's not unsure. He's free to proceed with a correct studio name on his own. That is why I have petitioned Ken (via PM and the 'Contact Us' option ) to clarify his intent with the optional nature of the rule. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Then you can't read James. The BVHE issue is comparing APPLES and Oranges they are NOT even close to the same discussion. But there is BVHE logo as well.
I repeat he does NOT have the right to unilaterally decide what the Rules are goingf to be. It's THAT simple James, but Knowing you as i do and how much you like to do this, your support of his position is not at all surprising. Disappointing but not surprising,

Skip Sorry, but you can't split the sentence up. You have to take the sentence as a whole...if you don't, you change it's meaning completely. "There is further information about correct names for studios and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum." Taken as a whole, you only have to check the forum...note the rule says 'Contribution forum' and NOT 'Studio thread'...if you are unsure or want to ask a question. As a studio buff, I am rarely unsure. When I am, I educate myself by doing the research myself. Since I do, I never have to look at the thread. In addition, if we aren't allowed to correct errors in that thread, it is useless. And make no mistake, listing '20th' as the correct name is an error. It was an error of convenience, but an error nonetheless. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. You are correct but at least quote the Rule correctly, your punctuation changes the meaning as well
The CORRECT quote is
There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum.
The punctuation is all important.

Skip You dissected the sentence and you're going to lecture me on a missing comma? It was a typo, btw. You are, however, correct. The punctuation is important. In this case, the commas are used to to set off the parenthetical element 'and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure'. When we remove that element, we have a sentence that reads, "There is further information about correct names for studios in the Contributions forum." This sentence, however, still isn't a requirement as all it does is tell us where to find furhter information. Nowhere does it say we have to look at that information. That's enough parsing for the night. I am off to watch my nightly DVD. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Quoting T!M: Quote: However, I notice that Skip is now indeed voting against a pending update of mine in which I'm adding a new "Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment" entry - straight from the cover - to a profile that doesn't even have a DVD distributor listed as of yet (024543-108375). His comment: "Distributor incorrect per Rules AND Studios thread"...
I still can't get over the fact that when the cover says "Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment" and I enter "Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment", that that gets me accused of breaking the rules. I hope you'll amend your contribution notes to include a reference to this thread. Earlier today I sent a "Contact Us" message to Invelos regarding the status of the Studios Thread to add to the two prior PMs. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | I voted against it as I said I would, Tim. You do NOT have anyt right to determine what the Rules are or are NOT. Read the Rules and the Studios Thread, Tim, you are in violation of them and as i said had you not made your public announcement....But I take a very dim view of users who think they can do whatever they please. For now the Rule is what it is, as you have told me many times any change must come from Ken...certainly NOT you. You have me so angry over your earlier announcement i am not even sure if i w9ould accept a mea culpa. But I'll sleep on it. You ceratinly aren't going to get anywhjere with your continued garbage and crap Contributions. The Rule is what it is for NOW. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it.
