So... what we're really saying is that the majority of people want to enforce random punctuation characters based on their interpretation of the data on the cover, without regard to the title or any supporting documentation.

Nice.

While I don't know if anyone seriously suggested to use the copyright title, I'd like to point out that the Copyright Office would only be helpful for US titles.

Some other countries may have similar institutions that register movie titles, but many countries (including Sweden) has no copyright registration. All works are automatically copyright protected. Thus there is no official registration...

I agree with Skip that we should deal with them on a case by case instance.

But that would require the use of (God forbid) common sense!

Common sense is NOT universal, Staid. Do we really have to esplain it again. Your version of Common Sense applies...only to you.

That's why I wrote "would", and indicated that it would be forbidden by the highest authority.

You would be correct if the title were Terminator 4: Salvation; however, it clearly is not.

Additionally, what if Terminator Salvation was intended to be a prequel?  Given the loose timeline of the Terminator franchise, this is not unreasonable.

None of that is relevant to profiler, Leiter.  As I have said I have no position, I can see both sides of the argument, so all I address is what the Rule says to do and Hal has very completely addressed that point.

Just apply the Rule
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Been that way since the day it was released.

I don't even see how it could be anything but.

That's how I also would make it, but wanted to hear another opinion.

What I don't understand Virus is why somebody is always loojking to modify data which has been ciorrect, sometimes for years. I mean it is in the database properly and has been since the day it was released, so why?<shrugs>

The first thing I would look at on that virus is the the notes that should back up that Original title claim. Original Title is not something that i worry about over much, as it doesn't seem very useful to me 98% of the time. Personally I suspect that original title is probably bogus, if it's not it should have been backed up.

We understand that, your collection is 98% Hollywood based English language films.

Those of us that collect films from outside of Hollywood find it far more useful.
