| Posted: | | | | I've been trying out Passkey as a replacement for AnyDVDHD, and it seems to perform most tasks well, with one irritating exception. It seems to always misidentify region free BDs as region A. While that works well enough for just playing the title, it sucks for documentation purposes. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Four days have passed, what did they say in the Fab forum? For documentation purposes, I test the disc against the player. For example the Ali Blu-ray with only flag B won't play with the region A player: | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

Since no one else wants to play with the topic: This statement is nonsense, of course. Passkey correctly identifies and reports the Blu-ray region flags, if set. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

| Posted: | | | | This is what Passkey reports for the UK release of Hired to Kill. According to the back cover it is region free. Are you saying that this UK release is actually region A only, as Passkey reports? | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | The region mask is an interesting message. As far as I can tell, the region mask means it works for Region A and Regions B and C are untested.
e.g. '_B ' means that it’s locked for region A, works with region B and it’s not tested for region C). | | | Last edited: by rdodolak |

I would also be interested in understanding a bit more about it. The part I understand least is why it needs constant updates and stay connected to a server. | Posted: | | | | if I recall, it "phones home" to pull in the latest decryption parameters. with dvd the decryption wasn't near as elaborate as it is with bluray and the java behind them. I could be wrong tho. |

| Posted: | | | | Passkey is always correct: Region A, not B or C: Regions AB, not C: Regions BC, not A: Region B, not A or C: I do not have a Region C only Blu-ray, or an AC. And region free discs usually have no flags set (instead of all), so there is nothing to show. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played.
