| Posted: | | | | Should Studios be listed in the parent profile of Box Sets?
I am making this a poll (my first!) because I would like to get a consensus before bringing this to the rules committee to address.
Edit: I am only addressing Movie Box sets.
Although the rules specifically address the points in T!M's post - Studios is not.
Ken will need to address Studios specifically in order to prevent ping ponging of data. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | IF the studios are the same for ALL titles I would say Yes, but since not all box sets are for similar studio releases I can't see this being able to be implemented.
The only true consistent would be the Production Studio/Media Release Company. that is as far as films are concerned. With TV Series the Studios would of course all be the same.
So in so far as Studios for Parent Profiles is concerned...it's horses for courses. |

| Posted: | | | | Assuming we're talking about movie box set profiles, then no. Movie box set profiles never profile any movies: no cast, crew, disc ID's, audio tracks, subtitles and so on, and as such, it can't have any studios, either. Simply because the profile doesn't actually "profile" anything you'd take it from - you only get to that data when you're working on the child profiles. Those contain all the appropriate data, including the studios. However, the (empty) box is distributed by someone, so the DVD distributor can still be listed under "Media Companies". | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Reason: The boxset contains the Movies, it is PACKAGING, the Distributor makes packaging, the Studio makes MOVIES | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I have previously listed Studio in the parent profile only when ALL the contents share the SAME studio, as I do not believe the rules currently prohibit this.
However I would have no objection to a clearly worded rule saying to only fill in the MC field for the parent profile. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I never added them for the reason that the Box Set is only a package. Also, in many cases the Studios differ in those Boxsets. Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com |

FWIW that's been my practice, experience and observation for a long time now and am actually quite surprised the question has been raised as I thought this was agreed long ago! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | I agree as well. I only add the distributor to the parent profile. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I don't think they should.... the parent profile should be MC only... putting studios in the parent profile gives us a false results in the charts/filters and such. | | | Pete |
