Sending red and green arrows is always anonymous. If I never saw anybody complain about green arrows, it's far to be the same for red ones.

I would like a system where users can declare themselves as anonymous or not about those arrows. When somebody chooses to loose his anonymity, those who receive arrows from him  know from where they come. This option (anonymous or not) is visible by all users and applies for all posts. So it become impossible to accuse someone of sending a red arrow if he has chosen to leave his anonymity.

The system remains the same for people who choose to keep their anonymity.

In my case, I'm ready to explain everybody to whom I send a red arrow why I did it, but I think that would not be really necessary... On the contrary, I'm fed up with people suggesting I sent ones when I didn't...

Perhaps instead it should implemented into the rules that people can't:

Accuse others of giving arrows/publicly speculate
Incite others to give arrows (including complaining that you got a red)

It isn't right that people are accusing others or attempting in any way to influence what should be an anonymous system, and one that has been mostly ineffective in stopping the sometimes appalling behaviour presented on these boards.

Just because we as user's can't see whom has given the arrow's (Red or Greem) doesn't mean to say Ken and or Gerri can't, since somebody has the power to remove what they deem to be incorrectly given arrows there must be a behind the scenes method of determining who allocates which.

Reputation system loses much of it's steam when you can't see any negatives.

This is an age old argument and Surfer I am sorry it is one not worth pursuing and this is why.  Plain and simple, retaliation.  People have formed clicks in our forums and if you were to say gave one of their friends a red arrow because they did something, even something deserving you'd be barraged by reds in retaliation, if you were not anonymous.  This would also effectively gag you as when your rep falls low enough the system locks you out.I still believe we should remove the rep system.  It is abused, miss used, and also misunderstood.  There are many people on here who believe that if you disagree with someone or you dislike them that you need to give them a red arrow for ANY post they make.  Don't believe me I know I have a red coming for this post if that isn't good enough, allow me to say one name "Skip".  I still like the idea of using moderators or just allowing people to report bad posts so they can be edited or removed.  Until the internet becomes like the real world where someone can punch you in the mouth for being rude there will always be people talking trash that they wouldn't dare say in public.

I think it would be a good idea if like voting on profiles you have to leave a comment as to why you are giving a red arrow, i have never given or received a red but if i did it would be nice to know why the person found the post to be abusive (which as far as i am aware is the only reason to give a Red)

I asked for this a few months ago for the same reason.

I am in total agreement with this.  We need a method for reporting "abusive" posts to someone who will actually review them and take appropriate action.  That is, edit or ban based on severity.

"Abuse" should be limited to the T&Cs as defined by Invelos and people who report posts which are nothing more than a difference of opinion to theirs, should be instructed not to repeat these reports again with consequences if they continue to do so.

The current system is pretty much useless.

I agree that a moderator system would be the better option. However I'm not sure on it actually changing. I believe that Invelos is a fairly small company so employing some more people to watch over the forums may not be a viable option.

Has anyone ever actually been prevented from posting due to accumulated red arrows?  Perhaps the real answer is to simply lower the threshold where this occurs.

the reputation system is a means of reporting bad posts. If enough red arrows are shown against a post then Ken will be pointed to the post so it can be removed. This has been effective against spammers etc.

And the call for moderators was done before - and I can only imagine there were no (or not enough) volunteers to make this practical. The reputation system was brought in after the call for moderators had failed.

So all by all the system works.

Perhaps, though I did not really see an improvement in global behavior than before this system.

But what annoys me the most is to be accused to send red arrows when I do not. I really do not need any anonymity. If I want to send a red arrow, I'm not at all bothered to explain why and face potential consequences.

That is the main reason of this request, and note that people who want to keep their anonymity could do if they wish.
