When the contribution notes for a submission are updated, would it be possible to send a system generated PM to those who voted for it suggesting that they reevaluate their vote? This might help remind voters when they vote "No" suggesting additional information to revisit that submission and reconsider their No vote based on the new information. Otherwise it is generally suggested that a contributor still withdraw and resubmit if they want existing voters to realize the change and revote.

While I can agree in principle. I will also say that I think it is wise to monitor active votes, something I do, just to see if somebody catches something that I missed and they haven't dropped me a note.

What's wrong with PMing the user yourself? I do it all the time when I update my contribution notes or make changes suggested by voters. I think the personal touch is much better that an impersonal system generated PM .

Good idea, Max. I'll try to remember it.

If I detect an error in my contribution, and I didn't get any no-votes, I don't PM the yes voters.
If however I got a no-vote, and I corrected the reported error, I will always PM that user.
As 8ball stated, this is more polite.

IMO The contribution note update is meant to be used to inform the screeners. If you want to inform the voters as well you should use private messages as noted by 8ballMax.

I agree with your replies and practice PMing personally, but not all of our contributors will make that effort. The specific events that caused me to make the suggestion were: a contribution was submitted with unacceptable supporting documentation. It received many No votes even though the suggested correction was accurate. I PMed the contributor and suggested they update the notes with additional docs and even provided a URL I thought would help. The member updated the notes and a few who checked back changed their votes including me but many others didn't. It struck me then that if the notes were modified in ANY way, those who voted a certain way may want to rethink their vote and possibly change it because now the contribution is not exactly what they voted on originally (I'm referring to all voters whether they voted Yes or No).

My thought was that a short automatic system PM could be issued only to those who have voted (either way). It would state that there has been an update to the notes for a contribution they voted on and provide them a quick link to return to that contribution and reconsider their original vote based on those updates. This would not be impersonal, it would be efficient. You would still have the ability to send your own PMs if you wanted to say more. Just my thoughts...

OTOH, if they want to update notes bu5 don't bother to notify the people they modified the notes for, then perhaps they should live with whatever that outcome is.    After all, they were modifying their notes typically in response to something, so shouldn't the weight of notification fall on the user instead of the programmer.

Well, I, for one, liked the idea!
First of all, it should be easy to implement, AND (2nd) would enhance the system.

Simplest version: Alert all voters
Enhanced (1): Alert all voters, by default, but possible to overrule.
Enhanced (2): Alert all NO or all YES voters (by choice)

Let's say a note said: "Cast according to end credits", and I vote Yes!
Then the submitter gets second thoughts, as this was not really true , and changes "end" to "IMDB"
Wouldn't it be nice to get an automatic "warning" without depending on the submitter ?

It doesn't necessarily need to be a PM, it could just reappear on the pending votes screen.

The best is to never get no votes. In 404 contributions (which is no so many, I must admit...), I can't remember only one no vote...

What's your point? How is this relevant? And finally...Who cares?

My point is that only first complete contributions are interesting, and they do not yet get no votes. As most users modify "correct per the rules" profiles to match their own preferences in their own database, the accuracy of the online database interests only those for whom it is a hobby, I would say about one hundred people among several thousands users.

What on Earth does this have anything what-so-ever to do with your original post where you bragged about your contribution vote record?

I already wrote many times that I only contributed new profiles. As I was reproached to always say the same thing, I thought it was not useful to write that once again. But as you said, who cares ?
