I will do not contribute to the database anymore. I´m from Brazil, one of the largest market for DVDs, I have a website about DVDs and a Magazine. My sources are the same of anybody or, even when I contribute with a Brazilian movie, using my website as reference, the "Contribution is Declined".

Sorry brazilians users of the software, you always can count with my website. And I will contribute the cover arts and localizations of the DVDS (ORIGINAL, I RECEIVE ALL DVDS FROM THE STUDIOS) in other location, for your consulting.

I will use the software just for my only database control, as the new politics of "terms".

Regards.

ps. Sorry about my english writing. And I hope that you, new owners of the software, do not block my paid rights to use the software.

Why should they, edin. You have every right to not Contribute, though I would encourage you to reconsider. The Rules are not that tough to follow, but iut is your choice and as the Rules basically say if you do not wish to follow the Rules you can keep your data locally in whatever form suits your needs.

Why don't you put a note in with your next contribution stating that you own the Website that you are using as a reference and that you are happy to release the data.

I did it, ut my website as "reference", but the contribution is still rejected. I´m very desappointed. I work so hard to make some contributions... And I think if you see my contributing history you can understand... Some "newbies" are better for someones, some not for others...

JUST IN TIME: I still think this is the best database software. I still will work for the brazilian (and latin america) information market, but my contributions here seems that doesn´t interest anymore. I respect the rules, I subbmited contributions as I did in the past (and informed now the sources in several different terms), but the "burocracy" (is this word correct?) is worst than the real in my country.

Okay, you have an issue.  Can you tell us why your submissions were declined?

"An invalid source, such as a third party database, was listed in the contribution notes. Use of a third party database is not allowed per the contribution rules."

AND are NO VOTES ABOUT THAT, "skipnet50".

Quite likely, edin. I can't say for sure, since I haven't seen your work. But a third party database would certainly garner No votes, we have ONE source for Cast and Crew data and that is the film's credits.

Where do you GET the DVD data that you put on your web site? It must come from somewhere - if it's coming from the DVD itself, then say so and your contribution will be accepted. If you get data from any place else, a third party database, I'm afraid your hard work will be for naught - DVDP can not accept that information.

edinhop, if you feel you have a legitimate source for data, and they were still declined, I would suggest that you PM Ken and talk through it. When he sees an unfamiliar site, he does check it out.

The problem might be that your website and magazine aren't official venues for information. They might be considered "third party" information.

My thoughts exactly. Somehow I don't think Latin America is gonna lose any sleep over this.
